【摘要】:TheobjectoftheseRecommendationsistorationalizethepresentationofdataonthepropertiesofplasticsmaterialsforuseinthefieldofdesignengineering.Theinformationavailableatpresentisusuallybasedontheresultsoftestsdesignedforqualitycontrolandisthereforeofrestrictedvaluetothedesigner.ForqualitycontrolpurposesithasgenerallybeensufficienttomeasureasinglevalueofagivenpropertyundercloselydefinedtestconditionsandthetestproceduresgiveninBritishandothernationalstandardsusuallyindicateonlya'singlepoint'value.Ontheotherhand,satisfactoryengineeringdesignneedstobebasedoninformationcoveringboththemagnitudeandtrendsinthepropertiesofmaterialsunderconditionssimulatingthoseexperiencedinpractice.Plasticsaremoresensitivethanmanymaterialstoenvironmentalchanges,andtheirpropertiesmayvarywidelywithtemperature,humidityandotherserviceconditions,andwithtime.Moreover,theperformanceofplasticsarticlesisusuallymarkedlyaffectedbythemethodandconditionsoftheirmanufacture.Therefore,topredicttheirlikelybehaviourinserviceitisnecessarytohavea'field'or'spectrum'ofinformationshowinghowapropertychangeswithtime,temperatureandtheotherimportantvariables.
