【摘要】:Theheavymetals,leadandcadmium,areknowntocauseserioushealtheffectsinmanifconsumedinexcess.Itis,therefore,importanttomeasuretheamountthatmaybeextractedfromanareaoftheglassdrinkingvesselincontactwiththelip.Eventhoughtheamountofleadandcadmiumextractedbythistestmethodisinnowayrepresentativeoftheamountofthemetalsextractedbyactuallipcontact,therelativemagnitudeofmetalsextractedfromonetestspecimeninrelationtoanothertestspecimenprovidesaneffectivetoolfordiscrimination.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofleadandcadmiumextractedbyaceticacidfromthelipandrimareaofglasswareusedfordrinkingandwhichisexteriorlydecoratedwithceramicglassenamels.Theprocedureofextractionmaybeexpectedtoacceleratethereleaseofleadandcadmiumfromthedecoratedareaandtoserve,therefore,asaseveretestthatisunlikelytobematchedundertheactualconditionsofusageofsuchglassware.Thistestmethodisspecificforleadandcadmium.Note18212;ForadditionalinformationseeTestMethodC738.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcernsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
